Over the years, the management of soft tissue around osseointegrated implants has become central to the implant-prosthetic treatment plan from both a functional and aesthetic standpoint, due to the ever-increasing need to make the implants, and consequently the crowns they support, as natural as possible and capable of blending in with the patient's natural teeth.
Taking a mucogingival approach to implantology also means preventing what could be aesthetic complications due to an implant placement that does not take into account the soft tissues of adjacent teeth, or having the possibility, as often happens, of treating recessions of adjacent teeth with a single procedure concurrent with implant placement, thus correcting the existing mucogingival defects.
The course will cover the main recession coverage techniques on natural teeth, then delve into the mucogingival management of peri-implant tissues, addressing various possible scenarios, so as to enable the student to treat the main types of mucogingival defects.
