Dr. Franco Ongaro graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna with honors.

He is an active member of the following scientific societies:

• STE (Tri-Veneto Society of Endodontics)

• SIE (Italian Society of Endodontics)

• AIOM (Italian Academy of Microscopic Endodontics).

He is a Certified Member of the ESE (European Society of Endodontology) and a member of the WGSC (Warm Guttapercha Study Club). In 2005 and 2006, he taught at the Advanced Course in Endodontics at the University of Padua. From 2007 to 2013, he was a visiting professor at the Master's Program in Endodontics at the University of Padua. In 2005 and 2007, he taught at the Master's Program in Endodontics at the University of Verona. In 2006 and 2007, he taught at the Advanced Course in Endodontics at the University of Trieste. In 2008, he taught at the theoretical and practical professional development course on endodontic retreatment at the University of Trieste. In 2014, he was a visiting professor of Endodontics at the University of Trieste and a visiting professor at the Advanced Course in Endodontics at the University of Padua. In 2015, he taught Endodontics at the University of Trieste and taught the professional development course on endodontic retreatment at the Carlo Poma Hospital in Mantua. He was Secretary of the STE for the two-year period 2009-2011. From 2012 to 2018, he was a member of the SIE Membership Acceptance Committee. From 2019 to 2020, he was a member of the SIE Board of Directors. Since 2020, he has been president of the Trieste provincial ANDI and vice president of the Friuli Venezia Giulia regional ANDI. He has spoken at various conferences on endodontic topics (SIE, STE, the Monte Carlo International Congress, the Egyptian Association of Endodontics, and the Warm Guttapercha Study Club). He is the author of the chapter "Bioactive Cements" in the second edition of the SIE Endodontics Manual. At his practice in Trieste, he dedicates himself exclusively to endodontics, with a particular focus on microendodontics.
