Professor G. Zucchelli (DDS PhD) graduated in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics with honors in 1988. He received his PhD in Medical Biotechnology, majoring in Biomedical Technologies, from the University of Bologna. He is a tenured Associate Professor of Periodontology at the University of Bologna and has been certified as a Full Professor. He is President-elect of the Italian Academy of Osteointegration (IAO). He is an active member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the Italian Society of Periodontology. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry and an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry. He is the author of over 100 publications in the fields of periodontology and implant dentistry. He has won awards for scientific research in periodontology in Italy, Europe, and the United States. Professor Zucchelli has been a speaker at major national and international conferences on periodontology and implant dentistry. He is co-author of two textbooks on periodontal plastic surgery (Ed. Martina) and co-author of the chapter "Mucogingival Therapy-Periodontal Plastic Surgery" in Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (Lindhe J, Lang NP, Karring T [eds], Wiley-Blackwell). He is the author of the book "Mucogingival Aesthetic Surgery" published by Quintessence Publishing, which has been translated into 12 languages.
